Java Installation Instructions
See if you already have Java installed. Return to installation when you are done here.
Windows
In Windows, go to the Start button, select the Control Panel; your Control Panel should look like this: 
Double-click on the Java Plug-in. Your plug-in panel should look like this: 
If the default Machine Version is 1.4 or higher, you do not have to do anything. If it is not or if you do not have the Java Plug-in, then you need to install Java from Sun Microsystems here: 
Macintosh OS X
In Macintosh OS X, go to the Apple Menu, select 'About This Mac', press the 'More Info' button, then select the 'Frameworks' tab in the Apple System Profiler window. Scroll down to see if you have an item called 'JavaVM.framework'. If you have one and its version is 1.4 or higher, you do not have to do anything.
Your view should look like this: 
If your computer does not have this item or its version is not at least 1.4, you need to install Java from Apple via the System Preferences, Software Update feature. Update to the latest OS X versions directly from Apple Computer.
